The cleanest fuel we have

To drive a gas-fuelled car has added value both for me and my customers. More and more companies request a clean vehicle when they book and some of them specifically ask for a gas car.

In 1996 I was one of the first taxi drivers to use a gas car. Then I was a pioneer. The cars were expensive, they only ran on natural gas, and there were few fuel stations.

Today the vehicles are driven by gas which is half biogas made from food waste. It’s the cleanest fuel apart from hydrogen. For me the choice is obvious, both ecologically and economically. It is 30,000 Swedish kronor cheaper per year for me to drive on gas than on diesel, and there are now plenty of fuel stations in the south of Sweden.

• As the people of Malmö collect more food waste, Malmö will produce more biogas for use as fuel in cars and buses. The city buses of Malmö all run on a combination of biogas and natural gas.
