'Push-pull' planting
“Push-Pull” is a novel farming system developed at the International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology, Kenya, in collaboration with Rothamsted Research, UK and East African partners.
The integrated planting of grasses and weeds attracts or repels parasitic plants and insects, allowing crops to be managed without pesticides. The system doubles productivity and incomes, increases soil fertility and provides quality fodder for cattle.
